Butterflies
No fewer than 24 species have been recorded and most are seen annually. All of the commoner species occur in relative abundance and others less numerously. Common Blue is attracted to Bird’s-foot Trefoil; Meadow Brown, Gatekeeper and Ringlet are all common; Speckled Wood, Small Copper, Small Heath and White-letter Hairstreak all occur. The latest addition to the site is Brown Argus. In invasion years, Painted Lady can be seen, with Clouded Yellow in favourable years; Marbled White has occurred and the rarest species to be recorded at FGP was Camberwell Beauty, seen in 2006.
Moths
Moth trapping has revealed the presence of 180 species. Day-flying moths, which can be seen over the grassy areas, are Chimney Sweeper, Cinnabar, Six-spot and Narrow-bordered Five-spot Burnet.
