Good for: Butterflies, Dragonflies, Wildflowers
One of the few remaining hay meadows in our area, which is managed for the production of an annual hay crop. It lies within a loop of the River Nidd near Cattal.

Limited roadside in Cattal (a small carpark at the south end of Cattal Bridge)
Access
Walk to the east extremity of the village to find a track beside farm fields that leads to the open access area

About the location
A Site of Special Scientific Interest for its rich natural grassland flora. Of particular interest are Early Purple Orchid, Meadow Saffron and Wild Tulip. Other plant specialities are Snake’s-head Fritillary (naturalised), Field Garlic and Wood Anemone in a very atypical habitat.
