About the location
A range of woodland birds is present, including Jay, Blackcap, Great-spotted Woodpecker, Tawny Owl, Tree Creeper, Nuthatch and Bullfinch. The ponds hold Carp, Roach and Three-spined Stickleback, and these attract piscivorous birds such as Heron and Kingfisher. The ponds are also noted for dragonflies and damselflies, with 10 different species recorded, including Southern Hawker, Common Hawker and Black Darter. Several types of fungi occur, especially during the months of autumn.
