About the location
Spectacular displays of Bluebells and Rhododendrons during spring and early summer. A diverse range of trees and bryophytes. Woodland birds include Great-spotted Woodpecker, Tree Creeper, Nuthatch and Tawny Owl, with Mallard, Moorhen and Heron on the lake. Carp can sometimes be observed basking near the water's surface in warm, settled weather. The towering Millstone Grit outcrops around the lake add to the beauty of the site, which has featured in several television programmes.
